The Euro-Mediterranean Civil Society Conference, organised by the European Institute of the Mediterranean, brought together over 200 participants from 33 countries to address the growing challenges of polarisation, dehumanisation, and radicalisation linked to the Middle East conflict.
The event focused on fostering fact-based dialogue among civil society actors, policymakers, and experts, while reinforcing the role of civil society in maintaining social cohesion across the Euro-Mediterranean region. Discussions highlighted the risks of fragmented narratives, the impact of misinformation, and the need to move beyond zero-sum thinking.
A key outcome of the conference was the Barcelona Declaration, which emphasises shared human values, collaborative approaches, and the importance of inclusive, solution-oriented narratives to counter division and promote long-term regional stability.
