A Human Rights Lawyer, Scholar, and Peacebuilder
Khaled Emam is a human rights lawyer, scholar, and peacebuilder from Egypt. He is the CEO of the Arab Leadership Institute (ALI) and the founder and Executive Director of Justice Call, a nonprofit that works with young leaders across the Middle East and North Africa to advance peace, justice, and democratic governance in their communities.
Khaled holds a Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and a Master’s in International Law from Cairo University. He serves as a Visiting Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University, and as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, where he teaches courses on adaptive leadership, justice, and Middle East politics.
He has advised the United Nations, national governments, and international organizations on leadership, democratic governance, and conflict transformation — drawing on direct experience across more than 40 countries.
Guided by the principle of “Making Justice Work,” Khaled’s mission is to help build institutions that are democratic, inclusive, and effective — ones that protect the dignity and political freedoms of every person they serve.
