Championing Change Across Borders

Mission

I work to reduce human suffering — caused by conflict, injustice, and poverty — and to build the conditions for lasting peace.

My bio

I’m a human rights lawyer and peacebuilder from Egypt, and the CEO of the Arab Leadership Institute — an organization focused on building the next generation of democratic leaders across the Arab world. I currently serve as a Visiting Fellow at the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy at Harvard University, and as a Teaching Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School, where I teach on adaptive leadership, Middle East politics, and justice. I’m also the founder of Justice Call, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering young people in the MENA region to lead peace and justice efforts in their communities. My work spans over 40 countries and includes advising the United Nations, national governments, and international organizations on governance, conflict transformation, and democratic transitions.

MY APPROACH

My philosophy is simple: ‘If you can’t change the world, change someone’s world.’ I believe in starting with what’s possible, taking small but impactful steps to address pressing issues like violence, conflict, and war. It’s through these meaningful changes that we can create a ripple effect, bringing hope and progress where it’s needed most.

EDUCATION

My education journey has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of global leadership and human rights. enabling me to address complex social issues and build impactful networks. My commitment to driving meaningful change is reflected in my academic achievements, including a master’s degree in international law from Cairo University and a master’s in public administration from Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
